    August 2nd, 2011
EMERSON — An 18-year-old borough man was arrested after he allegedly tried to purchase a pistol and a machine gun for $600 from an undercover detective, authorities said Tuesday.
Thomas HamparianThomas Hamparian met with an undercover detective Friday to see about purchasing the firearms, said Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli. Then, on Monday, Hamparian met with the same detective in Westwood to view the weapons, Molinelli said. After a negotiation, Hamparian agreed to purchase a 9mm Intratec Luger TEC-9 semi-automatic gun and a 9mm Beretta handgun, Molinelli said. Minutes later, after taking possession of the weapons, Hamparian was arrested.

Hamparian was charged two counts of unlawful possession of a weapon, Molinelli said. He was being held on $100,000 bail at the Bergen County Jail in Hackensack on Tuesday.
