    Pascack Valley police departments participate in ‘Chief for a Day’ program

    Five Pascack Valley Police Departments brought smiles and empowerment to a select number of kids chosen to participate in the third annual “Chief for a Day” program – a county-wide celebration that, according to the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office, “is designed to brighten the lives of local

    children with chronic health conditions.”

    On June 14, seven children from the Pascack Valley participated in the program and were named chiefs for the day. Each ‘chief’ donned a tailored uniform and rode in patrol cars to the Bergen County Justice Center in Hackensack where they united with the 28 other children from participating municipalities from Fairview to Upper Saddle River for a group ceremony.

    This year, 24 local and county police departments partook in the program in partnership with the Sheriff’s Office, which states that it “provides children and their families with a behind-the-scenes look at the inner workings of law enforcement.”
